* \[Fix] **New tab**: Preserves IME composition and stabilizes internal omnibox suggestions.
# v1.26.726.101
July 26, 2026
* \[Feature] Added Claude Opus 5.
* \[Feature] Aside now pulls provider model from the catalog API, so new models will show in the picker without an app update.
* \[Improvement] Selection that a provider retires falls back to the first model you can reach instead of showing Select model.
* \[Improvement] The model list loads from cache while it refreshes in the background, cutting a stale-cache load from about 1.4s to 45ms.
* \[Improvement] Subagent badges show model names instead of raw model IDs.
* \[Fix] The background service sends requests over HTTP/1.1, ending the repeated `fetch failed` errors that a dropped HTTP/2 session caused on Node 26.
* \[Fix] A failed catalog refresh keeps the last working model list, and a model you selected stays selected even when new visibility rules would hide it.
* \[Fix] Long-running sessions refresh their OAuth tokens on every request, and a network error no longer forces you to reconnect a provider whose refresh token still works.
# v1.26.725.633
July 25, 2026
* \[Fix] **Chat history**: Messages render when you open a task and stay visible while you scroll back through a long conversation.
# v1.26.725.345
July 25, 2026
* \[Feature] **Passkeys**: The password manager inline menu offers an action for handing a sign-in back to the browser's own passkey flow.
* \[Improvement] **Chat scrolling**: Aside rebuilds the message list around turns, so long conversations hold your position during streaming, measurement, and fold changes. Short conversations start at the top of the pane.
* \[Improvement] **Settings**: Settings > AI > Models is now Task Models.
* \[Fix] **Long conversations**: Tasks and routines created under the previous GPT-5.6 Sol context window recover instead of failing every request, and a failed compaction keeps your last prompt.
* \[Fix] **Startup**: Aside repairs duplicate routine trigger records that blocked the Project migration and upgrades databases left on older schemas.
* \[Fix] **Password manager popup**: Search ranks title matches first, the locked inline menu keeps its actions button, and the inline menu survives focus changes inside iframes. Field icon tooltips match their toggle state.
* \[Fix] **Provider errors**: Aside retries Codex server errors that arrive without standard error details and drops the bug report prompt from provider failures.
* \[Fix] **Composer**: Prompts that contain dollar amounts submit as written.
* \[Fix] **Avatars**: Cached favicons no longer show the fallback letter through transparent icons.
# v1.26.724.22
July 24, 2026
* \[Improvement] **Projects**: Adds Project memory, linked task breadcrumbs, and clearer controls for instructions and working directories.
* \[Fix] **Project migration**: Preserves symlinks and prevents legacy file conflicts from blocking startup.
# v1.26.723.2306
July 23, 2026
* \[Feature] **Projects**: Adds dedicated spaces for work that needs its own files, instructions, and local workspace.
* Create a Project with a name, icon, color, and workspace folder, then select it from the task composer.
* Add source files and edit Project-specific `AGENTS.md` instructions from the Project page.
* Start and review Project tasks in one place, switch between Projects, and archive finished Projects without removing their tasks or routines.
* \[Feature] **AI subscriptions**: Adds Kimi Code sign-in and Qwen Token Plan connections, refreshes provider branding, and updates the Gemini Flash models.
* \[Feature] **Device management**: Shows active cloud devices in account settings and lets you sign out a remote device.
* \[Improvement] **Local AI providers**: Lets you choose models while connecting Ollama or LM Studio.
* \[Improvement] **Chat history**: Collapses completed agent activity under a Worked for summary, keeps steering messages in the same run, and shows thinking only while the agent is responding.
* \[Improvement] **Created files**: Groups generated files into folders and shows them in an icon grid.
* \[Improvement] **Task browsing**: Simplifies task and routine lists, updates task preview cards, and keeps the current navigation context when you open a task.
* \[Fix] **MCP authentication**: Detects when a custom MCP server needs authorization, starts OAuth before a tool call fails, and provides an authorization retry action.
* \[Fix] **AI provider errors**: Shows credit errors from the provider that caused them and limits Aside credit prompts to Aside models.
* \[Fix] **Password manager capture**: Saves cards and billing identities from hosted payment frames, includes CVV and full billing addresses, and retries submit buttons that are temporarily disabled.
* \[Fix] **Password manager matching**: Stops treating login email fields and passkey buttons as one-time password or password-submit targets. Apple Passwords imports now use the selected browser profile.
* \[Fix] **Chat rendering**: Restores completed tool result cards, keeps chat detached after small scroll movements, and displays images referenced by absolute session paths.
# v1.26.721.1635
July 21, 2026
* \[Feature] **One-time password setup**: Aside detects TOTP QR codes on setup pages and offers to save them to matching logins, including when the vault is locked. You can start a scan from a login item's menu.
* \[Feature] **Post draft copying**: LinkedIn and X draft previews include a button for copying the post body.
* \[Improvement] **Routine pauses**: Aside shows why a routine paused and reconnects scheduled routines to your current browser profile when you resume them. Aside keeps Trigger now unavailable while the routine remains paused.
* \[Fix] **Custom AI providers**: Aside bundles Mistral support in production and restores Edit and Delete for providers added through + Connect.
* \[Fix] **Model fallback**: Aside keeps your selected default and session models when a temporary availability check falls back to an Aside model.
* \[Fix] **Task errors**: Aside shows a provider rate-limit message for upstream limits and a usage-limit message for Aside plan exhaustion. Aside brings disk-full failures out of collapsed tool output and provides recovery steps.
* \[Fix] **Image attachments**: Aside converts HEIC attachments to PNG before the agent reads them and reports broken JPEGs. It preserves previews for formats outside the resize pipeline, including AVIF and SVG.
* \[Fix] **Chat stability**: Chat holds your reading position while a task streams and when you reopen a session. Failed favicons fall back to initials without triggering an error screen.
* \[Fix] **Notification use**: The Notification Use page hides Aside's task-status notifications and limits long previews to four lines.
* \[Fix] **Omnibox navigation**: Aside opens `aside://` addresses entered in the search omnibox as internal Chrome pages.
* \[Fix] **Vault sync**: Aside recovers missing or conflicted vault records without changing stored values and repairs verified legacy sync metadata.
* \[Fix] **Passkeys**: Aside prevents assertion counter conflicts when new passkeys sync across devices.
* \[Fix] **Network authentication**: The packaged background service trusts system-managed certificate authorities, so authentication refresh works behind HTTPS-filtering software.
## v1.26.719.841
July 19, 2026
* \[Improvement] **Fast mode**: Aside places the Fast label beside thinking effort in chat and routine model selectors.
* \[Fix] **Pasted content**: Chat keeps pasted images attached and preserves citation text when you copy a message. Aside gives duplicate filenames separate storage names.
* \[Fix] **Chat scrolling**: Chat follows streaming output when you are at the bottom and holds your reading position after the task finishes.
* \[Fix] **AI provider sessions**: Aside disables models from OAuth providers whose credentials expired and shows a Reconnect action. A successful reconnect refreshes provider state across open extension tabs.
* \[Fix] **MCP previews**: Aside renders MCP tool previews on the new tab page without a route-context crash.
* \[Fix] **Account setup**: Aside waits for fresh account state before finishing onboarding and closes the password-gate popup so Chromium can open a normal new tab page.
## v1.26.717.1605
July 17, 2026
* \[Improvement] **Model selector**: Shows the selected model's provider icon in the task composer.
* \[Fix] **Draft actions**: Draft cards now place `Send`, `Send invite`, or `Post` in the task composer when you click their action button, including from the side panel.
* \[Fix] **Aside credits**: Chat shows the credit notice and Change plan button when you run out of credits for Aside models.
* \[Fix] **Task list links**: Saved task list links open with the All filter when they contain an unsupported filter.
* \[Fix] **CLI browser access**: CLI and REPL sessions connect to the last-focused window when one browser profile is open for your account. Aside restores this connection for older CLI sessions and asks you to close extra profiles when more than one matches.
## v1.26.716.1706
July 16, 2026
* \[Fix] Browser profiles: Tasks and routines stay attached to their original profile after browser restarts, window changes, and profile switches. Aside blocks browser actions when it cannot verify the profile.
* \[Fix] Chat delivery: Aside no longer sends prompts twice during profile checks or drops follow-up messages queued while the agent is replying.
* \[Fix] Task recovery: Aside clears failed runs stuck in the running state and repairs invalid preview data that can prevent the task list from loading.
* \[Improvement] Long conversations: Aside now uses Pi’s native compaction engine while retaining current task state and compatibility with existing histories.

## v1.0.706.1
### Major fixes
* Fixed the issue where Aside could cause CPU spikes and keep triggering the GPU / macOS WindowServer.
* Your laptop should no longer heat up just from using Aside. Depending on what you’re doing, it can still get warm, but it should be much better than before.
* Fixed Google OAuth2 sign-in getting logged out too often.
* We know many of you reported this, and we’ve patched the area we suspected.
* At least on my machine, Google sign-in has stayed logged in for over 2 days now.
### New features
* Added Auto PiP.
* When a video is playing and you switch to another tab, the video can automatically pop out into Picture-in-Picture.
* Off by default. You can enable it in Settings > General.
* Added non-scroll mode for horizontal tabs.
* Like stock Chrome, tab widths will shrink to fit the window instead of requiring horizontal scrolling.
* Off by default. You can enable it in Settings > General.
* Pinned Tab v2
* ⚠️ Warning: This is not compatible with the previous pinned tab system. Sorry for the hassle, but please unpin your existing pinned tabs and pin them again.
* Pinned tabs will no longer automatically open in the background.
* This fixes the issue where pinned tabs could use too much memory.
* After we launched pinned tabs, Aside could use abnormal memory because Chromium’s pinned tab behavior keeps them alive in the background. We changed that behavior.
* You can now drag bookmarks into the pinned tab area to turn them into pinned tabs.
* Pinned tabs no longer disappear after restarting the browser.
* Fixed pinned tab dragging not working when the vertical tab sidebar is in floating mode.

* You asked for it a lot, so it’s here.
* Right-click a tab and choose pin, or if you use vertical tabs, drag the tab to the very top.
* Tab dragging in vertical tabs is available when you have 2 or more tabs.
* Horizontal tabs support pinned tabs too, but for now just right-click the tab and pin it from there.
* The floating vertical tab sidebar now appears when you hover near the left edge of the browser.
* Previously, you had to hover the “Expand sidebar” button.
* Now it works more like Arc: move your cursor near the left edge and the sidebar will appear.

# Configure AI providers
Source: https://docs.aside.com/help/ai
Use Aside models, connect existing AI subscriptions, or bring your own API key.
# Configure AI providers
Use `Settings > AI` to choose which model providers Aside can use.
## Provider types
Aside supports three provider types.
Use models included with your Aside plan.
Reuse a supported AI subscription you already pay for.
Bring your own provider API key.
Connected providers appear under `Settings > AI > Providers`. Aside labels built-in plan models with your current Aside plan, subscription providers as `Subscription`, and API-key providers as `API`.
## Use Aside plan models
The `Aside` provider uses the models included with your Aside plan. Sign in to an Aside cloud account to use built-in Aside models.
Free users can use the free Aside model set. Pro and Max plans include more Aside model access, including priority models where the current plan allows them.
## Connect an existing AI subscription
Open `Settings > AI > Providers`, choose `Connect`, then choose a provider under `Subscription`.
Current subscription providers include:
* `ChatGPT Subscription`: reuse your ChatGPT Plus or Pro subscription.
* `Claude Subscription`: reuse your Claude Pro or Max subscription.
* `GitHub Copilot`: reuse your GitHub Copilot subscription.
Aside opens an OAuth sign-in flow for these providers. Finish the sign-in in the popup, then return to Aside. Aside can show usage indicators for supported subscription providers.
## Bring your own API key
Open `Settings > AI > Providers`, choose `Connect`, then choose a provider under `API`.
Current API-key providers include:
* Anthropic
* OpenAI
* OpenRouter
* Google
* xAI
* Vercel AI Gateway
* Cloudflare AI Gateway
API-key providers are useful when you want Aside to route model calls through your own provider account. After you connect a key, you can edit it or disconnect the provider from the provider action menu.
## Choose models
Open `Settings > AI > Models` to review available model categories. Open `Settings > AI > Chat settings` to choose the default model and follow-up behavior. See [Use follow-ups](/help/tasks#use-follow-ups) for task behavior while a run is active.

# Use routines
Source: https://docs.aside.com/help/automation
Create recurring work and use routine suggestions.
# Use routines
Routines let Aside run recurring work without starting each task by hand.
## Routine types
| Type | Behavior |
| ----------------- | ---------------------------------------- |
| Cron routine | Starts a new task on a schedule. |
| Heartbeat routine | Wakes an existing chat and continues it. |
Use a cron routine for standalone repeat work, such as a weekly summary. Use a heartbeat routine when the same chat should continue later with new context.
Aside skips overlapping routine runs and pauses routines when their target chat is unavailable.
## Manage routines
Open `Agent Settings > Routines`.
From the routine list, you can:
* Create a routine
* Edit instructions or schedule
* Pause or resume a routine
* Delete a routine
* Run a routine now
* Review active routines and draft suggestions
Free plan users can keep up to 3 active routines. Pro users can create unlimited active routines.
## Use routine suggestions
Routine suggestions are draft routines. Aside can scan for recurring work and propose routines.
1. Open the routine list.
2. Choose `Find routine suggestions` or `Find more suggestions`.
3. Review the draft suggestion.
4. Edit the instructions, schedule, or target chat.
5. Choose `Activate`.
Use `Dismiss` for a suggestion you do not want.

# Use Aside as your browser
Source: https://docs.aside.com/help/browser-basics
Use Ask AI, split tabs, selection shortcuts, and keyboard shortcuts.
# Browser basics
Use this page when you want to drive Aside as your daily browser: ask from the new tab page, compare pages, save shortcuts, and use common keyboard commands.
## Ask AI
Use `Ask AI` when you want to start a task from the browser UI. The new tab omnibox has `Search` and `Ask AI` modes, and task composers use the placeholder `Ask AI a task, @ for context`.
Ask AI works best when you name the site, the outcome, and any limit the agent should follow.
### Examples
Sign in to Rippling, get my paystubs for this month, and save the PDFs to Downloads. Ask if Rippling needs MFA or a verification code.
Find Sales VPs in Clay who are coming to NY Tech Week, check my calendar for open times next week, and draft meeting replies. Stop before sending.
Turn the receipt PDFs in Downloads into an expense report spreadsheet with date, merchant, total, and payment method.
Use `@` in the composer to attach available context.
Use `Cmd/Ctrl+E` to start `Ask Aside`.
## Tabs and split tabs
Use split tabs when you need to keep two pages visible while Aside works: source and destination, comparison pages, docs and app, or dashboard and ticket.
Good split-tab use cases:
* Compare two product pages without switching tabs.
* Keep a source document visible while writing into a form.
* Watch a task run while you inspect the target site.
* Put a task transcript next to the page it controls.
Split-tab shortcuts:
| Action | Shortcut |
| ------------------- | ------------------ |
| Split tab | `Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+\` |
| Split tab alternate | `Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+-` |
## Selection and lasso shortcuts
Use selection shortcuts for small page-level questions.
Text selection defaults:
* `Summarize`
* `Translate`
Lasso selection defaults:
* `Copy code`
* `Search image`
Selection shortcuts are on by default. Open `Settings > Appearance > Lasso` to turn them off, reorder shortcuts, edit shortcuts, delete shortcuts, or add a shortcut.
Shortcut actions can:
* Run a prompt.
* Copy selected content.
* Open a URL.
Templates can use `{text}`. Lasso shortcuts can also use `{code}` and `{image}` where supported.
### Examples
Summarize this clause in plain English and list the obligations I need to track:
Read this receipt table and return rows with date, merchant, total, and payment method:
## Keyboard shortcuts
Use the model menu when a task needs more reasoning.
| Action | Shortcut |
| ------------------- | ------------------ |
| Toggle Sidebar | `Cmd/Ctrl+S` |
| Ask Aside | `Cmd/Ctrl+E` |
| New Task | `Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+E` |
| Copy URL | `Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+C` |
| Split tab | `Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+\` |
| Split tab alternate | `Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+-` |

# Use the CLI, MCP, and REPL
Source: https://docs.aside.com/help/developers
Install the Aside CLI and connect browser automation tools.
# Use developer tools
Aside includes a command-line interface (CLI), Model Context Protocol (MCP) support, and a browser automation REPL.
## Install the CLI
The developer settings page shows this install command:
```bash theme={null}
curl -fsSL https://releases.aside.com/install.sh | bash
```
The settings page can also install, update, or reinstall the CLI directly.
## Run a browser task
Use `aside` to start a browser agent session from the terminal:
```bash theme={null}
aside "Open localhost:3000 and run a smoke test"
```
Use `--session` to continue an existing session:
```bash theme={null}
aside --session "Continue"
```
## Manage accounts
If you are signed in to more than one Aside account, each CLI command runs under one selected account. Use the `account` commands to inspect, switch, or target accounts from the terminal.
List the accounts available on this device. The current account is marked with `*`:
```bash theme={null}
aside account list
```
Show the current account, or check a specific one by ID:
```bash theme={null}
aside account status
aside account status u1
```
Set the default account for future commands:
```bash theme={null}
aside account use u1
```
Target a single run at a specific account with the `--account` flag. It works on `aside` and on `aside exec`:
```bash theme={null}
aside --account u1 "Summarize the current page"
aside exec --account u1 -m openai-codex/gpt-5.5 "Plan this workflow"
```
If the selected account is signed out, the CLI prints a warning explaining how to recover. Your own provider keys (OpenAI, Anthropic) keep working, but built-in Aside models require an active sign-in. Sign in again from **Aside Settings > Account**, or switch to a signed-in account with `aside account use ` or `--account `.
## Use MCP
Use `aside mcp` to connect Aside to another agent or coding tool as a Model Context Protocol server.
```bash theme={null}
aside mcp
```
For clients that support `mcp.json`, add:
```json theme={null}
{
"mcpServers": {
"aside": {
"command": "aside",
"args": ["mcp"]
}
}
}
```
If Developer settings found a concrete CLI path, use that path for `command`.
Aside can install browser automation setup for supported coding tools. Developer settings also describe MCP setup for tools that support `mcp.json`.
## Use the REPL
Use `aside repl` for browser automation REPL tasks:
```bash theme={null}
aside repl "const p = await openTab('https://example.com')"
```
Use the REPL when you need direct page inspection, screenshots, downloads, or deterministic browser steps.

# Get started
Source: https://docs.aside.com/help/get-started
Set up Aside, import browser data, and start your first task.
# Get started with Aside
Aside runs tasks in the browser. It can use websites, accounts, browsing history, files, and saved credentials according to your settings.
## Before you start
You need an Aside account and the Aside browser components installed.
Download Aside from [aside.com/download](https://aside.com/download). Aside supports macOS 15.0 or later. There is no separate minimum browser version because Aside is the browser.
## Set up Aside
1. Open Aside.
2. Sign in or create an account.
3. Import browser data.
4. Set up Password Manager.
5. Start a task.
## Import your browser data
Browser import brings over the context you already use while browsing.
Aside can import:
* Browsing history
* Cookies
* Bookmarks
Run browser import again from `Settings > General > Import from another browser` for history, cookies, bookmarks, and passwords. Use `Import bookmarks` on the same page for bookmark-only import.
1. Open import during onboarding.
2. Choose a profile.
If Aside finds multiple profiles, choose the profile you want to import.
3. Allow system access.
4. Wait for import to finish.
5. Continue to password setup.
Safari uses file import. In Safari, choose `File > Export`, then upload the ZIP file Safari creates. Aside rejects non-ZIP files for this flow.
## Start your first task
1. Start a task from the task page or side panel.
2. Describe the outcome.
Name the website, account, file, or result you want.
3. Choose permissions if needed.
Choose a permission mode and working folder if the task needs files.
4. Send the task.
Use the task page for work that spans sites, accounts, or files. Use the side panel when the current page should become task context. See [Run tasks](/help/tasks) and [Use the side panel](/help/side-panel).

Control what Aside remembers from browsing, chats, and tasks.
# Manage memory
Memory helps Aside reuse context from your browsing history, chats, and tasks. Use memory settings to choose whether Aside creates memories and how long it keeps them.
## Turn memory on or off
Open `Agent Settings > Memory > Settings`.
When memory is on, Aside can use browsing history as context and create memories from chats and task activity. Turn memory off when you do not want new chats or tasks to create memories.
## Choose retention
If memory is enabled, choose how long Aside keeps episodic memories:
* `Never forget`
* `30 days`
* `90 days`
Use shorter retention when you want Aside to forget day-to-day observations sooner.
## Review and edit memory
Open `Agent Settings > Memory` to review what Aside remembers. You can inspect memory history, edit saved memories, or delete memory you do not want Aside to use.

# Use Password Manager
Source: https://docs.aside.com/help/password-manager
Understand Aside Password Manager and how agents use saved credentials.
# Use Aside Password Manager
Aside Password Manager stores logins for you and lets Aside sign in through autofill. The agent can use the login action, but it does not receive the raw password.
Use it when you want Aside to work past login screens in payroll tools, dashboards, email, CRMs, billing pages, and internal tools.
## What it does
* Saves website logins in Aside.
* Suggests matching credentials on sign-in pages.
* Fills passwords into websites without showing them to the agent.
* Supports passkey, FIDO2, and TOTP prompts where the site asks for them.
* Lets you control when agents may use saved credentials.
## How agent sign-in works
When a task reaches a login page, Aside checks the target URL and your password access settings. If a matching credential is allowed, Aside can autofill it into the page.
Some sites still require a human step. If the site asks for MFA, passkey approval, CAPTCHA, or identity verification, complete the visible step and let the task continue.
Aside can use saved credentials to sign in. Sensitive actions such as payments, posts, and messages should still wait for your confirmation when the task asks for approval.
## Common uses
Sign in to Rippling, get my paystubs for this month, and save the PDFs to Downloads. Ask if Rippling needs MFA or a verification code.
Sign in to the support dashboard, review the customer account, and draft a reply for the open thread. Stop before posting it.
Sign in to the vendor portal, download last quarter's invoices, and save them with the invoice date and vendor name.
## Unlock with Touch ID
On a Mac with Touch ID, Aside Password Manager prompts you to enroll your fingerprint as a way to unlock the vault. The prompt shows up the first time you unlock the vault on a supported device, and only if you have not enrolled yet.
From the prompt:
* Choose `Enable` to enroll Touch ID. Next time the vault is locked, unlock it with your fingerprint instead of your master password.
* Choose `Not now` to dismiss the prompt. Aside remembers your choice and won't ask again. You can still turn on Touch ID later from `Settings > Password`.
Touch ID changes how you unlock the vault, not what agents can do once it's open. The `While unlocked` [access policy](#control-agent-access) still applies: agents can use saved credentials only while the vault is unlocked, no matter how you unlocked it.
## Control agent access
Open `Settings > Password > Access policy for AI agents`.
Choose one of these policies:
* `Always allow`
* `While unlocked`
* `Never`
Imported items can override the global policy per item. Agents cannot use password manager access in incognito sessions.

Configure autofill, import passwords, and control AI access to credentials.
# Configure password autofill
Use this page after you understand how Aside Password Manager works. See [Use Password Manager](/help/password-manager) for the overview.
## Turn on autofill
1. Open `Settings > Password`.
2. Choose the default password manager.
Turn on `Use default password manager` if you want Aside to manage passwords.
3. Enable `Autofill`.
4. Choose URL matching.
5. Add domains to `Excluded domains` if Aside should not fill on those sites.
6. Choose whether Aside can show suggestions on insecure protocols.
7. Choose whether autofill works in incognito windows.
Aside fills credentials into websites. Saved passwords stay local and hidden from AI.
Autofill is on by default, and Aside only fills matching logins according to your password access settings.
Aside also treats common account domains as equivalent by default, such as `google.com`, `youtube.com`, and `gmail.com`.
## Import passwords
Open `Settings > Password > Import`.
* 1Password
* Apple Passwords
* Bitwarden
* Chrome
* Dashlane
* Edge
* Firefox
* LastPass CSV
* Generic CSV fallback
1. Export passwords from the source password manager.
2. Open Aside password settings.
3. Choose `Import`.
4. Choose the source.
5. Choose the export.
Follow the source-specific flow if the import UI asks for it.
6. Review the result.
After setup, Aside can show login suggestions, save prompts, generated password suggestions, passkey/FIDO2 dialogs, and TOTP autofill prompts.
Generic CSV imports require these columns:
```text theme={null}
name,url,username,password
```
The import UI handles source-specific formats. After import, keep the exported file only if you still need a backup.
## Control AI access to passwords
Open `Settings > Password > Access policy for AI agents`.
Use this setting to control how agents may use saved credentials.
Options are:
* `Always allow`
* `While unlocked`
* `Never`
The default is `Always allow`. Imported items can override the global policy per item. Agents cannot use password manager access in incognito sessions. For login items, Aside checks the target URL before building an autofill payload.
Aside checks allowed vault items for matching logins without exposing saved passwords to the agent.
## Vaults and sync
Password settings include vault management, cloud sync, import, export, and clear vault data.
Use export before clearing a vault if you need a backup.
Aside encrypts vault data before sync, and saved password values stay hidden from AI.
`Clear vault data` deletes local items, vault keys, and vaults, creates a fresh Personal vault, and syncs the reset state.

* Advanced DNS, SSL, and Safe Browsing settings
Analytics sharing defaults to on. Aside reads the current third-party cookie setting and lets you choose `Allow` or `Block all` when the extension can control the setting.
`Ads privacy`, `Site settings`, and `Advanced` open the browser settings pages for ad topics, site permissions, DNS, SSL certificates, and Safe Browsing.
## Delete browsing history
1. Open `Settings > Privacy`.
2. Choose `Delete browsing history`.
3. Choose the data types and time range.
4. Confirm deletion.
Time ranges are:
* `All time`
* `Last 15 min`
* `Last 30 min`
* `Last 24 hours`
* `Last 7 days`
* `Last 4 weeks`
Data types are:
* Browsing history
* Cookies and other site data
* Cached images and files
* Download history
* Autofill form data
* Site storage
Use this action for data stored in Aside's browser profile.
## Clear password vault data
Password vault reset lives in password settings. Export passwords first if you need a backup, then use `Settings > Password > Clear vault data`. See [Configure password autofill](/help/passwords#vaults-and-sync).

# Set agent permissions
Agent permissions control what an agent can read, write, browse, fetch, and run.
## Agent permissions
Open `Agent Settings > Permissions`.
Permission areas include:
* Sandbox
* Readable file roots
* Writable file roots
* Reads outside allowed roots
* Writes outside allowed roots
* Tool rules
* Browser rules
* Network rules
## Rule values
| Value | Behavior |
| ------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| `Allow` | Let the agent use the capability without asking. |
| `Ask` | Ask before the agent proceeds. |
| `Deny` | Block the action. |
Deny takes precedence over ask and allow.
## Session permission modes
New tasks also have a permission mode:
| Mode | Use |
| ------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `Read only` | Let Aside inspect browser and file context without changing your files. |
| `Guard` | Let Aside work in approved folders and ask before it accesses other folders. |
| `Full access` | Let Aside read and write anywhere on the computer. |
`Guard` is the default for new tasks. `Full access` expands file access; it does not expose saved password values.
## Password boundaries
Aside can sign in through autofill with its password manager. Saved password values stay hidden from the AI agent.
Aside checks password access policy and the target URL before it builds an autofill payload. See [Use Password Manager](/help/password-manager).
## Agent-level and session-level rules
Agent-level permissions live in the agent settings. Session-level permissions live on each task.
When a task has its own permission settings, Aside applies those task settings on top of the agent defaults.

# Manage your Aside subscription
Use `Settings > Billing` to review your Aside plan, credits, payment method, and invoices.
## Plans
Aside has three plans.
| Plan | Includes |
| ---- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Free | 500 credits per month, up to 3 routines, built-in password manager, personalized memory. |
| Pro | Everything in Free, 3x Free usage, Ultrabrowse, unlimited routines, and priority model access where available. |
| Max | Everything in Pro, 30x Free usage, early access program. |
Pro and Max plans can have monthly or yearly Stripe prices when those prices are active in billing.
## Credits
Aside plans grant credits each billing period. `Settings > Billing > Credits` shows:
* remaining credit percentage
* renewal date
* monthly credit amount for the current plan
Paid-plan credits renew on the subscription's billing anniversary. A trial and its first paid period receive separate credit grants. Free-plan credits renew at the start of each UTC calendar month.
Credits are separate from API keys or external AI subscriptions you connect under [AI settings](/help/ai). If you bring your own API key, your provider may bill usage to that provider account.
## Choose a plan
Choose a paid plan when you need more included credits for Aside plan models.
Choose Pro for:
* more monthly credits
* Ultrabrowse for source-heavy research
* unlimited active routines
* priority model access where available
Choose Max for the largest included credit grant and early access features.
## Change or manage billing
Open `Settings > Billing`.
From there, you can:
* choose `Adjust plan` to change your plan
* choose `Manage` to open the Stripe billing portal
* review current credit usage
* open invoices after your first payment

# Run tasks
Source: https://docs.aside.com/help/tasks
Use Aside for longer browser work, permissions, active page context, and follow-ups.
# Run tasks with Aside
Use Aside for work that needs more than one browser action, search, file step, credential autofill, or approval.
## Task controls
A new task has controls for mode, permissions, working folder, and model.
| Control | Use |
| ---------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `Default` mode | Run the task in the normal browser profile. |
| `Incognito` mode | Run the task without normal browser profile state. |
| `Read only` | Let Aside inspect browser and file context without changing your files. |
| `Guard` | Let Aside work in approved folders and ask before it accesses other folders. |
| `Full access` | Let Aside read and write anywhere on the computer. |
| Working folder | Choose where Aside can work for this task. |
| Model | Choose the model and speed for the task. |
See [Set agent permissions](/help/security) for permission rules and defaults.
## Longer tasks
During a task, Aside can browse sites, search the web, use files, search history, request approvals, and sign in with allowed autofill.
A task can keep working through multiple steps, pause for input, ask for approval, or resume after a wait.
The task detail page shows files the task creates or changes. Aside can preview supported images, PDFs, HTML, text files, and file metadata from the task.
Aside stores regular task transcripts in the task folder. Incognito tasks do not keep normal browser profile state. Generated files remain until you delete the task or its folder.
Aside can wait for a notification before continuing a task. When a task is waiting, open the task to review the current status and any instructions from Aside.
## Write a good task
Give Aside the result you want and the sites or files it should use.
Sign in to Rippling, get my paystubs for this month, and save the PDFs to Downloads. Ask if Rippling needs MFA or a verification code.
`Handle my billing.` is too vague. Name the account, artifact, destination, and any action Aside should avoid.
Add constraints if the task touches money, customer data, credentials, or files.
## Use follow-ups
Open `Settings > AI > Chat settings` to choose follow-up behavior.
* `Queue`: Aside saves your new message and applies it after the current run finishes.
* `Steer`: Aside sends your new message into the active run so the agent can adjust.
Use `Queue` when the task should finish its current path. Use `Steer` when the agent needs a correction now, such as using a different site or stopping an action.
## Active tab context
The side panel can attach the current page to a new task. See [Use the side panel](/help/side-panel).

Fix waiting tasks, stuck tasks, password autofill issues, and import problems.
# Troubleshoot Aside
Use this page when Aside needs input, a task stalls, password autofill does not appear, browser import fails, or you need to report a bug.
## Task is waiting for you
1. Open the task.
2. Find the input or approval request.
3. Review the requested action.
4. Approve, reject, or answer.
5. Resume the task if the UI shows a resume action.
If Aside reaches a sign-in screen, it can use allowed saved credentials through autofill. If the site asks for MFA, passkey approval, CAPTCHA, or identity verification, complete the visible step or answer Aside's request, then resume the task.
Aside may show visible task states such as waiting for approval, waiting for an answer, errored, or finished. Approve or deny approval popovers directly from the browser surface. Questions and draft reviews open the task detail page.
## Task is going the wrong way
Use a follow-up.
* Use `Steer` if the agent needs correction during the current run.
* Use `Queue` if the instruction can wait until the current run finishes.
Example: `Stop using the billing page. Use the invoices page instead, and do not send any emails.`
## Task waits for a notification
Aside can pause a task while it waits for a notification. Open the task to see whether Aside needs a reply, approval, or a connected app event.
## Password autofill does not appear
Check these settings:
1. Open `Settings > Password`.
2. Confirm `Use default password manager` is enabled if you want Aside to manage passwords.
3. Confirm `Enable Autofill` is on.
4. Check `Disable in incognito` if you are in an incognito window.
5. Check `Excluded domains`.
6. Check whether insecure-site autofill is allowed for the current site.
If the site uses a passkey, MFA, or a multi-step login, Aside can fill the saved credential first. Complete the visible verification step and wait for the next prompt.
## 1Password extension does not work
1. Open the 1Password app.
2. Go to `Settings > Browser > Connect to additional browsers`, then click `Add browser`.
3. Select `Aside`.
4. Copy `~/Library/Application Support/Google/Chrome/NativeMessagingHosts/com.1password.1password.json` to `~/Library/Application Support/Aside/NativeMessagingHosts/com.1password.1password.json`.
1Password should copy its native messaging host file into the browser profile when you add a custom browser. It does not recognize Aside as a Chromium-based browser, so you need to copy the file yourself.
## Apple Passwords extension does not work
Enter this prompt in Aside:
```text theme={null}
Use the Apple Passwords skill and check whether Apple Passwords is connected properly.
```
After Aside finishes the check, open the Apple Passwords extension again. You should now be able to use it.
## Browser import fails
Try these checks:
1. Confirm the source browser profile still exists.
2. Close the source browser if the import needs exclusive access.
3. Use file import for sources that require it.
4. Retry import.
Aside can show these import errors:
* `Browser import is unavailable in this version of Aside.`
* `Browser import failed.`
* `Please upload a ZIP file` for Safari ZIP import.
* `Failed to read the ZIP file` for unreadable Safari ZIP import.
## Streaming sites show "unsupported browser" or fail to play
Streaming sites like Amazon Prime Video, YouTube, and Netflix may show `You are running an unsupported version of this browser` (for example Prime Video error code `7132`) or fail to play protected content when the Widevine DRM module is outdated or has not finished downloading.
1. Open `aside://components`.
2. Find `Widevine Content Decryption Module`.
3. Click `Check for update`.
4. Wait for the status to change to `Up-to-date`.
5. Reload the streaming tab.

# Use Ultrabrowse
Source: https://docs.aside.com/help/ultrabrowse
Choose Ultrabrowse for source-heavy research and complex browsing tasks.
# Use Ultrabrowse
Use `Ultrabrowse` when a task needs source-heavy research, more planning, or careful comparison across pages.
## When to use it
Ultrabrowse fits tasks like:
* research that needs citations
* vendor or product comparisons
* migration planning
* security, compliance, or pricing checks across several sites
Use a normal task for single-page questions or basic searches.
## How it works
In the app model selector, Ultrabrowse appears under `Reasoning` when your account can use it. On the Free plan, you see an upgrade prompt for Pro.
Developers can also start browser tasks from the command line. See [Use developer tools](/help/developers).
## Example prompts
Research companies attending NY Tech Week that match our ICP. Identify Sales VPs or revenue leaders, cite the pages you use, and recommend who to contact first.
Review our travel expense policy and the receipt spreadsheet. Flag reimbursements that need a note, category fix, or manager approval. Cite the policy sections you use.
